All about Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp

The most luxurious lodge in the Western Serengeti, Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is inspired by Tanzania’s annual Great Migration. A wild and remote experience in the midst of ample resident game, it is ideally situated on the banks of a tributary of the Grumeti River and enjoys a prime position near one of the most famous fording points of the wildebeest migration. Rustic yet sophisticated, the tents combine hues of wildebeest grey with accents of natural stone and bone, as well as bleached cypress. Whimsical interiors provide quirky touches that emphasise the natural beauty of the setting. All ten of the tented suites feature shaded private veranda’s that look out onto the Grumeti River and its resident hippo. Stone shower towers are open to the sun and stars. Two of the tents cater for families travelling together and are connected by an enclosed walkway that allows easy access between the tents while maintaining complete privacy.

Healthy and colourful meals can be enjoyed on an extensiv e deck with beautiful views of the river. The dining area opens up to a traditional African boma, where dinner is served beneath a billion stars as traditional jikos (fires) and outdoor ovens produce mouth-watering aromas. Intimate guest areas include open-fronted sitting and dining areas, as well as a domed bar, all adorned with beaded artefacts. The spacious decks are perfect for enjoying sundowners overlooking the water and the camp’s rim-flow swimming pool provides a view of the hippos lazing in the river.
