All about Lekkerwater Beach Lodge

Perched up high and overlooking the surrounding coastline, the intention for Lekkerwater was to create a relaxed and homely environment where guests could choose to either immerse themselves in the surrounding natural environment or cocoon themselves and obverse from a distance. We wanted to bring the environment into the lodge so that each guest feels a part of it, but also not forgo any creature Comforts.

The lodge is centred around the main building which offers extraordinary views in every direction. The doors can be opened fully and give way to a deck and extensive sea views, which often include dolphins frolicking in the waves and, during whale season, an incredible number of whales. The deck contains a communal fire pit as a place to gather for conversation or a night cap at the end of the day.

Accomodation

For the lodge interiors, we took our inspiration from the spectacular environment. The emphasis was on handcrafted, natural materials inspired by the landscape and ethnic in culture. They had to be simple and functional yet still organic and earthy. The colour palette is muted and soft, with shades of blue reflecting the ocean and rockpools.

Food Experience

Meals at Lekkerwater are homely and generous. Our chefs pride themselves on using quality local ingredients. Meals are served either in the main area or, if the weather and tides permit, feet-in-the-sand dining. We can cater for most dietary requests if we receive ample warning remembering that our closest shops are a four to five hour round-trip drive away. Sadly, we cannot accommodate strict Kosher or Halal requirements.

What else do I need to know?

We welcome children aged 6 years and older. Please note that we can’t offer childminding facilities. If you have young children, it is your responsibility to ensure their whereabouts and safety at all times. Lekkerwater has an unfenced swimming pool & high drop-off areas. Wifi is generally available in guest bedrooms (but not in the main area). There is very limited cell phone signal due to our remote location although there is a spot about 200m from the lodge where the signal improves. 220V charging facilities are available in bedrooms

What else to bring?

We’ve got the essentials. Here are some of the not-so essentials (but always useful!) items you might never have thought of… Reef shoes, Crocs or similar for walking on sharp rocks that you don’t mind getting wet! Good walking or running shoes for clambering over the hills and into the ravines. Binoculars, wide brimmed hats, sunblock, a torch / flashlight, sunglasses, wind & rain jacket, long sleeve shirts, shorts, swimming costume, a good book and something warm for the cool mornings & evenings.
