A hidden gem of a camp, meno a kwena is perched on a rocky clifftop overlooking the boteti river with front-row seats to the comings and goings of the wildlife below.

All about Meno a Kwena

Located on the western boundary of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park (MPNP), Meno is situated on tribal land overlooking the exceptionally scenic Boteti River, which has been flowing since 2008. The camp is easily accessible from Maun - just a 90 minute drive.

  • Full day and half day game drives into Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.

  • Green Season:
  • Day trips to Nxai Pan. On request.
  • Dry Season:
  • Boating on the Boteti.Aug - Dec. Always water dependent.
  • Zebra migration. Jun - Nov. Always weather dependent.
  • Sleep-out:
  • Sleep-out under the stars on the Pans. NB: this requires a minimum 3-night stay with a minimum of 2 guests. The sleepout can be done from 01 May to 30 September only and is subject to weather and dryness of the pans. Must be pre-booked.

  1. Road Travel Two-wheel drive vehicle

    Self-drive options also available. Alternatively, fly from Maun to Motopi airsrtip, a 30 minute drive to Meno.

  1. Air Travel Direct Flights

    Direct flights to Maun from Cape Town and Johannesburg. Transfers by road from Maun to Meno depart btw 14h00 - 15h00 (to allow for delays). The drive takes 90 minutes on good tarred roads, with 5 kms on a gravel road.

Accomodation

There are tents all ensuite with indoor and outdoor showers. Tents have standing fans and are solar powered with lighting and international charging plugs. All look straight down to the Boteti River.

Food Experience

The chefs at Meno a Kwena create good, wholesome food and all meals are prepared on an open fire. Please let us know of any dietary requirements prior to arrival.

We welcome children of all ages (please refer to our rates for child policies).

Limited wifi is available in camp.

Charging facilities available in rooms and main area.

Our vehicles are open and accommodate 8 guests.

The camp accommodates a maximum of 22 guests.

Please consult your doctor for recommended vaccinations.

What is a good time to go?

Meno a Kwena is open all year round.

The zebra congregate at the river during the dry season (but this cannot be guaranteed!) and game viewing is excellent in all seasons.

The below is rough guide to the seasons, but in April/May and October/November, the weather is variable.
