All about Camp Kalahari

You’ll find Camp Kalahari amongst the acacias and mokolwane palms of Brown Hyaena Island, on the edge of Botswana’s hauntingly beautiful Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Wildlife in the surrounding savannah includes brown hyena, bat-eared foxes, elephant (the camp swimming pool is a welcome stop!), meerkat and during the green season, spectacular numbers of zebra and wildebeest.

  1. Road Travel Two-wheel drive vehicle

    Road and self-drive transfers from Maun (approx. 4-5 hrs) are also possible.

  1. Air Travel Direct flights

    Direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Maun and then take a small charter plane to the Makgadikgadi.

Food Experience

Camp Kalahari has a reputation for delicious, fresh and original food. Meals are plated, not buffet style. Please let us know of any dietary requirements prior to arrival.

What else do I need to know?

We welcome children of all ages (please refer to our rates for child policies).

There are lanterns as well as electrical lights in the guest tents and dining area.

Camera charging facilities are available in the mess tent (please bring an adaptor).

There is no Wifi or phone signal in camp.

Our vehicles are open and fit a maximum of 7 people.

We can accommodate a maximum of 28 guests in camp.

Please consult your doctor for recommended vaccinations.

If quad biking, please bring a good pair of sunglasses or goggles - the sunlight and dust can be harsh.

What is a good time to go?

Camp Kalahari is open all year round. Please note that some activities are seasonally dependent.
